The workshop

A woodworking shop in Querétaro, founded in 2019, devoted to project woodwork for architects and design studios.

A craft learned in France

The workshop grew out of a training in industrial design completed at Les Compagnons du Devoir, the French school that trains some of the best craftsmen in the world. From there comes a trade that is hardly taught in Mexico: woodworking understood as precision, not improvisation.

El Taller opened in Querétaro in 2019. Since then we have worked with architects and design studios on high-end residential projects, where the margin for error is minimal and the finish is examined up close.

We don't make catalog furniture. Every project starts with a drawing and ends with an installation on site. And what isn't made of wood we solve with trusted partners: CNC cutting in metal, resins and acrylics, architects specialized in furniture design, and certified metalworkers with professional machinery.

Good woodwork doesn't stand out. It fits.

How it's made

Digital

Design and cut list

We model the project and work out the cut list digitally before touching a single board. That's where measurements, joints and junctions get solved.

Machine

Precision CNC cutting

Machine cutting gives tight, repeatable tolerances, piece by piece, so everything closes on site.

Hand

Assembly, finishing and installation

We assemble, finish and install from our own workshop. The combination of machine cutting and hand assembly is what allows tight tolerances without losing the finish of a piece made by a woodworker.
